Marathon Center for the Performing Arts
Completed in 2015, the 55,770 square foot Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, was home to the original Central Middle School. The completely renovated auditorium had been cleaned and painted to restore the iconic art deco stylings that were in fashion when the building was first dedicated as Findlay High School in 1923-24. The old lobby was renovated into a breathtaking grand entrance featuring full glass walls and a 1939 art deco chandelier. With seating for 960, the newly renovated Donnell Theater was completely modernized, and improvements included new theater seats, expanded backstage capabilities and state-of-the-art technology. The addition also included a stunning atrium lobby, lounge, visual art gallery, suite of dressing rooms and an event hall to be used for receptions, meetings, recitals and smaller performances. Outside the building, the former school’s parking lot was expanded to hold 225 cars, while also providing summer event space for concerts or other gatherings.
